Yannis Tabakakis
Make music, not war
Born in Heraklion, Crete, he began classical piano lessons at the age of six and graduated in 2000 from the Hellenic Conservatory with a Piano Diploma from the class of Professor Jenny Charamountani, receiving the grade of Excellent. In the same year, he also obtained a Vocal Studies Diploma with the grade of Excellent under the guidance of Professor Nikos Antonakakis.
From 1996 to 1998, he was a member of the Heraklion Municipal Youth Choir under the direction of vocal instructor Katerina Tsagkaraki.
In 2009, he earned his Harmony Diploma with the grade of Excellent, studying under Professor Giannis Kiagiadakis.
For the past ten years, he has been teaching piano to elementary and middle school students, while also running his own home studio where he creates music productions and demo recordings.
Over the years, he has worked with both professional and amateur bands across a variety of musical genres, organizing their performance flow and arranging their material.
Vinyl Plus was one of his own musical projects, consisting of six members (piano, trombone, saxophone, drums, double bass, and vocals), performing both international and Greek repertoire.
He has collaborated with well-known artists of the Greek music industry, while also participating in various cultural events and appearing on music television programs.
Since 2003, during the summer seasons, he has been collaborating with major luxury resorts in Crete (Elounda Mare, Porto Elounda, Stella Palace, Nana Princess, among others), performing exclusively international repertoire together with singer Niki Fountouli as the “KARMA” duet. In the summer of 2023, they released their first CD single titled “Tha Taxidepso” (“I Will Travel”).
Since 2024, he has also created the wedding-party band “Laundry Band,” a full eight-member band performing both international and Greek repertoire, active throughout Greece.
