George Kontoprias

• Born in Athens in April 1987.
• In 1994 he began his musical studies at the International Conservatory of Athens.
• In 1999 and 2000 he participated as a soloist in two concertos for piano and orchestra with the symphony orchestra of the municipality of Ilioupoli "Nikolaos Mantzaros" .
• In 2003 he received his Piano Degree in the class of Leda Pomoni with "Excellent Unanimously" and Distinction.
• In 2004 he received 3rd Prize at the "Regional Student Artistic Competitions".
• In 2006 he began performing as a vocal and instrumental accompanist in classical and modern repertoire.
• Since 2008 he has been teaching classical and modern piano and music theory.
• During 2011-2012 he conducted the student ensemble "M.AD. Orchestra" in movie-soundtracks repertoire .
• In 2014 he received his Piano Diploma in the class of Niki Poulimenou with "Excellent Unanimously" and First Prize.
• During 2014-2015 he successfully completed a 2-year jazz theory program at the International Conservatory of Athens.
• In 2015 he received his Composition Diploma in the class of Giorgos Sioras with "Excellent Unanimously" and First Prize.
• In 2016 he attended seminars in jazz and percussion run by Dimos Dimitriadis and Kostas Seremetis respectively.
• In 2017 he received his Teaching Diploma from the English Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (DipABRSM in Piano Teaching).
• During 2015-2018 he took jazz practical lessons and orchestration from Sami Amiris, Manos Saridakis and Alexandros Orphanos.
• During 2017-2020 he was the leader of the music group "Organsmic The Band" covering the posts of the pianist/keyboardist, flutist and orchestrator/arranger. The group merged genres such as classical music, film soundtracks, new age, blues, swing, jazz, soul/funk, latin and pop/rock together. Their most significant appearances were those at Numismatic Museum Café, Spiti Art Bar, Aliko, Booze, Faust and, last but not least, Cabaret Voltaire, as part of the artistic festival “The Little Paris of Athens”.
• Since 2017 he has been performing systematically in well-known venues and events such as weddings and corporate or private parties playing lounge music.
• In 2019, he received his Grade 5 Diploma (ABRSM) with Distinction in flute in the class of Reni Tsalapati. In the same year, he began modern band coaching and participated in the ERT competition for emerging composers with a program concerto for piano and orchestra.
• Since 2020, he has incorporated the Rockschool method for piano and keyboard into his teaching.
• He is a student in the Department of Music Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in the Music Technology direction.
• His technical knowledge includes Finale, Musescore, Audacity and Cubase/Ableton Live.
