George Kalathas
STUDIES
He attended the Professional Program of Lab Music Education (Jazz Department, Electric Bass), studying under Christos Kechris and Giorgos Georgiadis. After completing the program, he continued his studies in double bass through lessons with Giorgos Georgiadis. He has also attended seminars by Panagiotis Andreou, Giorgos Dafnos, and Vasilis Xenopoulos.
He is a graduate of the Department of Communication, Media and Culture at Panteion University, and has completed a training program in Sound Engineering at the Department of Music Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
COLLABORATIONS
He has collaborated with the Contemporary Music Orchestra of ERT as an electric bass player. He has also contributed to the arrangements for the vocal ensemble “For Women Ensemble,” led by Angeliki Toubanaki. As a sideman, he has performed in numerous venues, participating mainly in jazz, Latin, and funk projects, as well as in larger events such as the Rematia Festival, Voes Festival, and The Church Sessions by Pepper 96.6.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Since 2024, he has been teaching Electric Bass, Band Coaching, and Music Theory at Lab Music Education.
