Alexandra Vlachou
Our voice is a musical instrument we already play; through vocal training, we learn to use it consciously, while discovering our body at the same time.
Studies:
Alexandra combines studies from two distinct fields: music and psychology.
She began piano lessons at the age of 5, and in 2007, she attended dance classes on a scholarship at the Athens State School of Dance (KSOT). Simultaneously, she studied acoustic and electric guitar, and in 2014, she was accepted into the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance (ICMP) in London, focusing on performance, songwriting, and harmony.
Upon returning to Greece, she deepened her knowledge of Jazz music at the Athenaeum Conservatory and completed her training as a Mental Health Counselor.
She also holds Grade 8 certifications in Vocal Performance and Popular Music Theory from the University of West London.
Teaching Experience & Training:
She holds a CELTA diploma from Cambridge University, specializing in teaching techniques for adult learners.
She has trained in Estill Voice Training (Levels 1-2) with Katerina Kozadinou and subsequently with Tom Burke.
With the ultimate goal of integrating counseling with vocal instruction, she attends seminars on trauma and the voice, as well as inclusive practices for LGBTQI+ trainees, while continuously furthering her education.
Her teaching approach combines technical proficiency with an experiential and psychological understanding of the body as an instrument.
Performances / Collaborations:
She has performed at prominent venues and festivals, including the Athens & Epidaurus Festival alongside Mc Yinka, Technopolis City of Athens, Gazarte, Stavros tou Notou, Kelari Jazz Bar, and Spiti Art Bar. She is currently focusing on her personal project, featuring her original compositions.
Seminars:
She has participated in seminars with distinguished artists, including Sheila Jordan, Enrico Pieranunzi, Anna Furse, Jonathan Kreisberg, Larry Carlton, and Paul Gilbert.
