Dave is an Anglo-Italian Multi-instrumentalist, best known for his drumming. He is a Producer, Composer, Sound Engineer and Educator who has released 10 records under his own label. These works were recently requested by The British Library Sound Archive in London, in recognition of their contribution to the Nation's Art. Pilot of collaborative improvised project "Agile Experiments", Dave is also core member of groups Electric Jalaba, Free Movements, Trio Tekke & Dave De Rose, Flying Ibex & Harlequiin. As a session drummer he has worked with Moloko, Mulatu Astatke, Mark Ronson, Rokia Traore, Bastille & Jamie Cullum to name just a few.

Masterclass In this Masterclass Dave introduces practical musical concepts and essential philosophical imprints which are applied to both composition and improvisation and are aimed at developing a heightened sense of awareness within music creation.

Specific methods and exercises will illuminate techniques of self-reflection & self-observation. These will help to embed key skills needed to contribute to music performances with the highest and most nurturing state of attention possible.

Attendees will witness some duo performances by Dave and a special guest musician, using simple conceptual approaches to creation. In the ‘hands on’ part of the work there will be questionnaires and discussions, as well as an opportunity to explore in practice by getting up to play with Dave and his guest, thus creating a trio from the duo. (Not everyone will get a chance to do this, but collectively all will be able to learn from the experience by observing).

By the end of this Masterclass, attentive, willing and explorative participants will have gained important tools to explore and expand on their creativity within a group setting. The application of these tools are guaranteed to make players a vital asset to any creative group or artistic endeavour.

N.B. Attendees should already have mastered a decent sense of time and technical ability on the instrument, as well as having a good idea of standard song formats.
